Call (905) 270-2959Restore vs. replace
Granite is hard-wearing, so restoring it is usually right. Dull spots, chips, and stains where the sealer has worn off can be fixed for about $2.50 to $20 per square foot. Replacement costs $85 to $160 per square foot plus tear-out. Replace only if the slab is cracked through or you're changing the layout.

The short answer
Usually restore. Granite is hard-wearing, and most dullness, chips, and stains can be fixed.
Granite chips around sinks and cooktops, and years of cleaners can leave the polish uneven, but the stone is usually sound. Re-polishing, epoxy chip fills, and resealing bring it back without a tear-out, or the risk that a new slab won't match.
Disruption
Restore: usually a day for counters, 1 to 3 days for floors. Replace: tear-out ($1,200 to $2,800 before the new granite arrives), templating, cutting, and installation, usually 2 to 4 weeks without a kitchen.

Typical jobs
Outdoor granite repairs at the Fallsview Casino Resort: broken slabs replaced, chipped corners rebuilt, and failed caulking renewed at the entrances and storefronts.
