What is happening
Pitting is a scatter of tiny holes in the surface. It is most common on black and dark granites, where mineral crystals pop out during polishing or daily use. The holes catch the light and trap dirt.
What to look for
Pinhead dots across a polished granite counter
Tiny craters that hold water or dirt
A rough feel on an otherwise glossy surface
Pits that show most on dark stone in low, angled light

Fill and refinish chips, cracks, and scratches.
When to call a pro
If any of these sound familiar, send photos and a short description. That is usually enough for us to size up the job before a site visit.
Pitting across most of an island or bar top
Dark granite, where the fill colour has to match closely
DIY glue fills that yellowed, fell out, or left bumps
Pitting along with scratches or a dull finish
Daily habits and the right products matter as much as the repair, especially on marble, limestone, and travertine.
