Case study
Challenge
Terrazzo lasts for generations, but after decades of student traffic the board's floors had dulled, yellowed, and chipped. Replacing or tiling over them would be costly and wasteful. The work had to fit the summer break, and the board wanted something it could plan each year instead of emergency polishes.
Approach
Over the break we strip, repair, grind, polish, and seal the terrazzo, splitting large schools into hallway stages so the work fits. We document each job so the facilities team can plan future budgets.
Result
Most of the board's schools now have their original terrazzo restored and kept up on a regular schedule. The floors stay bright for a fraction of the cost of replacement, nothing goes to landfill, and the schools are ready for September.
Good to know
If you manage many buildings, a regular summer schedule lets you plan and budget the work instead of reacting to worn floors.
