Granite by the sink and dishwasher often turns matte while the rest still shines. The cause is film, grit scratches, or a worn factory polish. Granite is harder than marble, so we refinish it with diamond pads to match the original gloss or honed finish, across the whole counter so the waterfall ends and cooking area match.
Quick diagnosis
Rub a small area with a pH-neutral cleaner. If the shine comes back for a while, it's probably film rather than worn stone. If it stays matte after cleaning, the surface needs refinishing.
