Definition
A gloss meter shines light at a set angle and measures what bounces back. Matte stone reads near zero. Floors are usually read at 60 degrees, and very glossy stone (above about 70) at 20 degrees.
Why it matters
A number lets you set a finish target and check the work met it. For commercial floors, we can take gloss readings if you want the finish documented.
