Challenge
1 Hotels Toronto has Calacatta marble in every guest bathroom and travertine on the mini-bars, desks, and tub surrounds. Daily use wears it down, and a room out of service earns nothing. The hotel needed the stone restored in place with as few rooms out as possible, instead of a bathroom renovation that would empty floors for weeks.
Approach
We refinished a batch of rooms at a time, renewing shower grout and caulking as we went, while the rest of the hotel stayed bookable. Doing one room type at a time kept the finish consistent and let housekeeping plan when rooms would be ready.
Result
The guest-room stone across the hotel was restored rather than replaced, and the hotel kept selling rooms the whole time.
Good to know
With guest rooms, how many are out of service at once, and for how long, matters as much as the finish.
